Anyone know the procedure for adjusting tension on disc plate to housing on a duetz allis 385 planter?

Adjusting (shimming) the seed disc tension on that planter is NOT something that ever really needs to be done, once established. The most common problem are seed discs that are left installed and tightened all year long while sitting in the shed, and the discs go flat. A good seed disc when laid on a flat surface should have at least 1/4" bow in the center, much like a disc blade. This insures that when installed on the planter, the outer edge seals tightly against the plastic seed housing preventing any air loss. When things are right, they do turn with some resistance.....they have to. Probably should be one or maybe two shims, but once determined, never need to change that. Next question.

My original problem was that the plastic seed housings were busted around the hub where the drive shaft turned the disc. This led to the
housing backing off from the disc and letting seed spill from the disc/housing area.I have new aluminum housings on the way and hoped to be
able to use my old disc. They are smooth on the seed side, no cracks or breaks. However, I do understand what you are saying in re: the
concave of the center of the disc having to be present in order for the disc to "seal".
