Allis Chalmers B

myself and some other guys are advising on a FFA project we are restoring a Allis Chalmers B and we need to know what Decal kit to order its a 1948 model year, I have looked on the web and it looks like we can get the lettering in black or blue, I don't know what color came with this tractor or if it matters, the tractor is entered in a national contest and we want to make sure we get everything correct on the tractor, I have looked on the web and have seen the 1948 models with black or blue decals, any input would be appreciated

Hunt,
this is a 1950 model that I found for sale on ebay.
so information is worth what you paid for it.

we had one back when I was a kid, 1950 I think and it had black letters as I remember. also I think the headlights were black

the little step on this one, to help you get up on the tractor is a nice touch, but ours did not have that.
of course ours had a generator that was black, I think
but ours had the same bowed front axle for cultivating one row and the flat rear wheel centers.

was one tough little tractor, just not too user friendly as a small ford or Ferguson,

but much better than using a pair for mules.
installing the one row cultivator or side mower on the tractor took a good while and was a lot of work.
compared to just backing up and hooking up the 3pt hitch, but guess AC and Farmall could not use the 3pt hitch as it was a Harry Ferguson patent.

Contact sandy lake implement. Allis Chalmers dealer since the beginning. When I needed mine for my B I went there and they looked it up for me to make sure I got correct ones. By the way. Mine is a 51 and it called for black but all the letters the same length, not extended A and S like the picture above.

Hunt,
Look at the sterner tractor site,

Per their decal set information 1944 and newer tractors got lettering like the attached picture of the WD45,

If that information is correct, then the decals on the "B". Picture that I sent you is incorrect, if it is effect a 1950 model.
I really never noticed the first and last letter was different,

You need to insure you use the correct decal set, if you plan to win an award,
Good luck with your project,

Remember what I told you, information you get on Internet sometimes is wrong, worth only what you paid for it,
