Vented Gas Cap

On what?? Some gas tanks have a built in vent some do not and if it does not you need a vented cap. Gas tanks work just like a soda straw does if you hold you finger on the end the soda stays in the straw till you remove your finger same is true in a gas tank

As you probably know the WD used a fuel cap with a little handle on it. I never tore into one to see how it was made, but I didn't see where there was a vent. Some people get carried away with that lever and eventually try to take out the little stops built into the tank neck. I've taken to using a D series cap on my WD45. There's no lever to line up. I just snug it on there. There's no need of trying to jam it down tight.

For a local place I would check with napa or TSC. I googled that they can get caps for allis chalmers but they did not mention vented or nonvented like with other brands. I also did a search for "fuel cap for wd allis" found at least four sites that specifically list a vented cap for a WD. I see on this site they list a non vented cap for use with a WD, so maybe it is ok to use a non vented cap, I just would not recommend it on a gravity flow fuel system. HTH

The original cap on WD & WD45 had the ear on it and has no vent that I can find on mine. But I can't see why you couldn't use ether one.

You could "Vent" a non-vented fuel cap, but to prevent fuel from slopping out, I would keep the drilled hole (where ever ya want it) to 1/32" or smaller...

That would be plenty..

Once the cork gasket gets a few years on it, it will be "Vented" anyway...!!

I bought my D-14 with one of those shiny chrome caps. It would run really well for an hour and then quite. The settling bowl would be half full. If you let it sit for an hour, you could repeat good running until it quit. I simply took my shiny gas cap an drill a small hole in the center clear through it. I think the size I used was a 1/32". You could also just put the cap onto the first catch. It is loose but secure from falling off. If trouble goes away, drill the cap.
