WD Front Rims

Hello,
I am wondering if any stock 16 inch truck rims will fit on a WD Wide front. My rims are okay, but they are too thin for loader work, and I don't want to replace any more of them. ( I have already cracked one). Any info will be appreciated. Thanks. Rifman

WD and D17 bolt patterns are identical. I put wider fronts on my D17 in the early 70s, using a Buick wheel, probably from the 50s. Not a truck wheel, but might be worth looking into. Cut/drill cardboard or similar with bolt pattern and tour some junk yards.

I have seen people advertise heavy duty rims for just that reason. I don't know if any truck rim will bolt right on. I have several Ford 5 bolt rims from the 72-75 era that I cut the center out to fit my old wagons. That surely weakens the rim some so might not be a good idea for a loader.

I have been in search for the same but haven't come across anything. As CTucker said there is a heavier style rim made for the WD, it's not sold by YT but you can call Tony Carbaugh at 877-602-3994 and he carries them. I bought an ordinary front rim from him a few years ago. If you want to make one from a 16" truck rim you can cut a heavy duty center disc from any GM rear axle shaft - 5 bolt (full size vehicle 1970 and up into the 90's) and weld it in. The welding has to be good if it's going on a loader. That being said the 5 bolt rim from some Chevy pick up trucks are heavier and would hold up for a loader (center hole cut to fit). Of course it's only 15'' and hopefully you have power steering as a wider front becomes increasingly hard to steer.

By doing some research I found out yesterday that '99 (and up) Jeep Wrangler came with a 16'' rim and the same bolt pattern as a WD (5 bolt & 5" dia. pattern), the center hole has to be cut bigger to fit the WD hub of 3 & 3/8" hub. I have yet to see what the offset is. Also '94 to '97 Chev Impala SS came with a 16" wheel and same bolt pattern. There again I don't know know offset.
