AC Front Spindles

The L & R axel arm shafts are worn bad on my allis chalmers wd. Can these be taken apart to get on a lathe, or is there replacements? Part a has grooves that need to be built up and turned down, but the assembly won't fit on my lathe. This is the part that goes up in the knee and has the axel.

Thanks,

Todd

There are reproduction spindles out there. Never had one apart but I think there are bushings in the spindle housing as well.

Maybe it is time for you to look for a larger lathe, a good excuse to buy one. It would be an interesting project to turn one of these, you would have to swing the hub spindle over the lathe and work inside it, between it and the chuck. And to turn the top bushing area you might get in a chuck, gut the other end would be hanging way out, support by tailstock center or steady rest I guess. Where are you? I am in R.I. and have a 12" Lodge and Shipley that measures out more like a 14", it might fit.

In the long run you might be better off finding some one with a parts WD to get them from. I know lots of us have parts tractor laying around. I know I have most of a WD out back that still has a lot of good parts on it
