Diesel tech, sorry if i mispelled your name, And others, but my 806 sat for about 7 yrs inside with Howes Fuel Conditioner in the tank, Put new battery in it started right up, so did i get lucky with the conditioner? This was about 6 yrs ago, now i start it every summer but it still has the old fuel in!!! What should i do?

I'd say you got lucky. Any chance you could use it more, maybe help a neighbor? I get pumps in that have parts stuck inside in as little as six months..

But the new diesel fuel, like you say is really crap, so i wouldn't be doing any good by draining that out and puttig in new, Right??

Main thing is use it more, so close fitting parts are less likely to stick in the first place, especially with bio diesel. That's only safe if you use it VERY OFTEN.

Because we're on the subject...how many years ago did diesel fuel quality change? Two years ago I sold a machine that has fuel in it being 18 years old or more...sat at least an eight year stretch w/o running and then at least seven years again but starts up and runs perfect every time...no additives added??

But water is the no 1 enemy, of any fuel system. and i believe in a additive like Howes or something .
