Guys, I am looking to find out the gasket thickness for the timing gear cover on the front of the ca. Got this ol gal field dressed and fixin to start puttin her all back together. There wasnt much left of the gasket so am gona make a new one and cant be sure if it was 1/32nd or possibly 1/16th. I'm leaning toward 1/32 but wana be sure so I aint doin this again. Thanks for any help. Sincerly, Hoss

I think they were 1/16" but a thinner thickness will not be a problem in this case. It will only change where the lip of the seal is riding on the crankshaft.

Thanks Dick, I have the 1/16 materiel in the cork rubber composite and the 1/32 in the fiber/paper stuff. Do you see any problem with using the cork stuff since that's what I have on hand in 1/16? Thanks again for the help. Sincerely, Hoss

Dick, Paper gasket it will be, and thanks so much for the help on these "little allis's" your experience and advise on these smaller allis's is such a big help! I have went to your old posts and photos many times! Thanks again, sincerely, Hoss
