No reverse power on D14

Can anyone please help. If I'm on level ground then my D14 industrial goes forward and reverse fairly well. But if I'm on an incline then I cannot back up hill. I'm not talking steep either. I have changed the transmission, shuttle clutch and differential fluids and went with universal hydraulic and transmission oil. If the oil is cold I have some reverse but once it gets warm I cannot back up a 3% grade

You say it's industrial so your shuttle is fwd/reverse right? I would think that your shuttle clutch needs adjustment. You may find a thread on here that explains at length how to do the adjustment. You open the side panel on the shuttle clutch housing and there are three locations with shims. The long and the short of it is that you loosen the bolts enough to move a shim or more as needed across the centre disc. each shim has a thickness number on it in thousands of an inch...whichever you move has to be the same in each of the same three locations. When moving the shuttle lever the firmness should be firm and equal in fwd & rev...then you ought to be good to go. You need to tighten each corner enough that the shims don't fall out as you rotate to the next one during the adjusting process. Maybe this all sounds more complicated than it is. Once the inspection plate is off it's easy to understand when you move the lever and watch what is supposed to happen inside. I have done this on several of these and they have all been with good results.

Yes sir. The shuttle is on the left and it's forward or reverse with a nuturel notch in the middle. This is equipped with an oil cooler so I will have to remove the lines before I can remove the cover. I have a shop manual so now that I know what's recommend I can refer to the book for instructions.

By the way do you think the 303 tractor fluid is sufficient?

I'm sure the 303 tractor fluid will do just fine. There are mixed views on the quality of this oil...some claim that too much impurity settles in the bottom of the bucket if it sits around for a while...others have no complaint at all.
Please post a note on here when you get your tractor working well.

I took the side cover off and whom ever attempted to adjust the shuttle clutch shims were not very knowledgeable on what they were doing. Some of the 0.015" center shims were moved to the forward outside edge which caused damage to the shim due to the shim being too long for the outer edges. There were uneven numbers in all the center slots and front outside edge and none in the rear outside edge. I have multiple shims that are damaged beyond use. Which brings me to my question. Do you know we're I can order the shims I need?

Personally I don't know if those shims can be ordered new anywhere...I suppose you could check with an AGCO outlet that still handles parts for Allis. You would probably find them used from someone wrecking out any Allis with a shuttle shift/high-low set up. I believe the shims are the same in all the models including D19. A machine shop may have material for making up some some shims also. Looking fwd to to the good news when you have a strong reverse again!
For used parts you could check with Tony Carbaugh, he is very good to deal with, his # is: 503-769-6640.

Thank you for your help. I was able to find some frome a local guy that parted one out. Hope to get it running this weekend.
