Allis C Gas Tank Webbing

I am making some progress on my Allis Chalmers C. I got the gas tank webbing. Is there supposed to be enough to clear around the tank or just enough for the tank to sit on. What I got does not go clear around the tank. There is a metal strap that goes over the tank. Seems like the webbing should go under it too, but may be not. Does someone know?? Thanks in advance.

The webbing goes on the front bottom support and between the hood and the gas tank. The purpose is to keep metal from rubbing or wearing a hole in the tank. No metal to metal contact.

A piece about 2" wide, 1/8 or a little thicker and maybe 8 to 10" long goes under the tank where it sits on the support. A second piece 1" wide and about 3' long goes between the and hood. It should be long enough to go down under the tank to where the hood wrap around stops. No lose ends flapping.

4wdtom, Thanks. I just placed an order for some of the 1" material. I had the other webbing, but when I ordered it, I thought it covered everything. Not until I put the tank on yesterday did I realize I probably needed the 1" webbing.

Went to turn it over last week and the starter does not work. So it is at the electrical shop right now. Making progress but is sometimes 3/4 step forward and 2/3 step back.

When I was working on my CA I wanted some webbing, I asked the wife to be on the look out as she goes to material store often, i said I needed about 8 to 10 feet. She brought me home 10 yards of a pretty decent woven material that reminds me of oil lamp wick, works great and I have enough to do a couple of more projects at 1/3rd the price. Got to love the little woman!

Great information. I should have waited a day or two to order and taken some the suggestions here. I could have also cut up a motorcycle strap for much cheaper than the cost of what I ordered. Yep I might also still have a military belt around...from 45 years ago!!

Thanks guys
