On the way home I had Rush Limbaugh on the radio and it was either him, someone who called in, or on some news bit, that it has been passed that active military in civilian dress, and veterans can now salute instead of placing right hand over heart when the flag passes by, or the national anthem is played. Anyone know about this? True? As a veteran it would please me to be able to salute at these times. Tom

Tom, George Bush signed that into law Oct of 2008,you can salute uncovered inside,(Marines and Navy don't salute uncovered)if you google it you can read the law. Mike

In my case I can only do that covered as in have a aht on but I am former Navy but yes that is true

Being army the only times I can remember saluting uncovered was reporting to pres of a board and a payroll officer.
