found an Allis H4 gas loader backhoe. Whats gas engine is in this thing? Also the backhoe has a different swing circular cylinder. Are those programmatic?

I didn't know there was such an animal, so I did a little research. The HD4 had a four cylinder, 200 cu. in. diesel, which was just a cut down version of the popular 301 6 cylinder used in farm equipment. Book says the H4 was also 200 cu. in. So that was the gas version of the same basic engine, like the 180-190 tractors.

I don't know about the rotary type swing. But most anyone who used a unique type of swing, eventually went to two, two way cylinders, like everybody else.

A friend has one of those swing cylinder setups. They do give trouble. Borrowed it once. When you wanted it to stop, it moved quite a bit further. I know he rebuilt it twice. The last time he had to have parts made. I helped him take it apart to rebuild.

If there is not a lot of oil leaking externally and you are willing to put up with sloppy swing you'll be OK...it's no easy fix to improve or rebuild that type of hydraulic swing. I had one on a Allis rubber tire backhoe many years ago.
