New on the allis site. Been looking for a 45 for a long time. I have 2 ford 8ns and a long 460. Well picked this one up in Baldwin Mi. They sold it as stuck and it is. Real bad.. Anyway I need to know if I can get the pistons and sleeves pushed out at the same time? Or do i need to push the pistons out first Trying to save the rods. After power washing 40 yrs grime off I see mine is painted yellow under the orange. Any ideas!

I used to see those around all over the place when I was younger during the 1970's. It would be sad to think that they got scrapped out over time.

It could have been repainted in yellow at sometime or at one time I knew that you could buy a yellow primer paint.

I may be wrong, but I think that there are two different shades of AC orange, early and latter on. The earlier being lighter and faded, then repainted with the darker orange. My WD power unit looks the same way. Maybe some "paint guy" will chime in.

You got yourself a great tractor. I have a WD, made just before the 45's came out...I've had it for 25 years and it's a keeper :D If you are putting in new liners I would push out old liners and pistons together. Have you checked the serial # on the back of the diff to see what year your tractor was made?

Hope I can make mine look as good a you guys look! Hope to have engine out tonight. Will take pix of bottom. It looks bad too!

About 29 years ago I bought a CO OP E3 with the engine set up This is what I used to push the sleeves and pistons out at the same time. I can't figure out how to get the picture up here. Just look under HELP IDENTIFY in the Galleries section on the left side of this page. Then search that section for SLEEVE REMOVER there are 2 pictures. Thats 3/4 inch ready rod and 2" square tubing. The piece of rectangular tubing fits up over the rod and hits the bottom of the sleeve and pushes each sleeve and piston out at once. The engine had wet sleeves which came out easy.

Since you are new to ACs I will say this, keep a good boot on the shift lever to keep water out of the transmission, and at least look at the oil in the final drives, some have never been changed and it is nasty. You have to pull the pans to change and clean the pan, but you can check the oil through a plug in the side of the pan. Good luck with your 45, they are a good tractor. Tom
