Reading below about the lowered B's really perked my senses! I am putting a 426 diesel in a D17. I had the final drives upside down when I started. But got cold feet. Thinking it would tractor pull so well the sanctioning body's would make rules to stop it.

The pulling club in this area wouldn't let you do it. Years ago saw a F20 with the axle turned about a quarter turn so the axle was turned heading to rear of tractor making it long and it pulled good. He pulled it in a V8 hotrod class.

I have read USAP rules. They say you can't alter the wheelbase. So turning the finals upside down would not do this. But I am sure they would change the rules. All of the 180's pulling NTPA have the final drives pointed back, to lower the center of gravity, and add a little length.

I have an oddball model 7000 Agri-Power that my neighbor and I take to pulls. It has the similar drop box rear like other tractors do but is set about 45 degrees back from being straight down like the others, and it came that way. Was made in Argentina by Fiat..

No turbos. But bigger is better! I am going to try to make it 650 cubes. If can get wife to loan me the money. Lol. Vic
