Wd wd45 diesel

Looking to put a Diesel engine in one of my wds any ideas on what my best bet would be engine wise (other than not doing it)?

A 4bt is the answer everyone will give other than not
doing it. I always wanted to try the engine out of an
f2 gleaner. I have always been told they have thrust
bearing problems. There are several Perkins that
would fit. What are you going to do with it? An idi 7.3
would look cool but pretty much be useless.

The only thrust bearing problem in that engine is when in the tractors the PTO clutch lever was latched back, and left there full time. The pressure on the throw out bearing put too much pressure on the thrust bearing.

A good friend of mine put in an Olds 5.7 diesel in his WD, and also in a Ford Major. He's got time to play since he's retired. I reworked the injection pumps with variable speed governors like tractors use instead of the min-max type for automotive use.

The 4 cylinder from a F2 would be my
first. Choice. But a 301 6 will fit also.
I am putting a 3500 (426) in a D17
