D17 exhaust gaskets

I'm going to put intake and exhaust gaskets on tomorrow. Is it best to put them on dry or apply a light film of high temp silicone on them?

I like to rub Hi-Temp Silicone into the "Gaskets", and stick then and the metal cups to the intake manifold runners before I slip it into place..I think it makes the gaskets last a lot longer..
Graphite on the side of the engine head is not a bad idea, so the metal cups can slip easily as the temps change in the manifold..

Studs should be "Good and Snug", but not TOO Tight....to allow the manifold to move as it expands and contracts..

When I first did this on the job years ago there was no silicone of any kind. We used grease to hold them in place. I agree with BushogPapa, hi temp silicone is so much better!

Thanks. That's what I thought. A long time ago when hi temp came out we used it on the exhaust cross overs on the IH 549 truck engine intake manifolds. Worked good. Glad to hear it is common on D17 manifolds.
