B Drain Plug

I am working on an IB transmission out of the tractor. I can not get front drain plug out. It is the kind of plug that has a
square hole. Any tool I use just cams out. If I heat the plug and it expands would I risk breaking the transmission housing? Any
suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I can"t imagine it being an issue......torch time! Since it"s out of the tractor, flip it over so the plug is on top. put some wax on it as it cools....

I have had that happen before and what I did was took an extension etc and welded it in place let ti cool then was able to remove the plug. Then just got a new one for it

I use a square drive breaker bar that you normally use with a socket. Use a ratchet strap around the transmission over the breaker bar to keep it from popping out. Once it moves a bit it should come out easy. It is a tapered thread. You might want to use a coupla thick large washers under the strap so the strap doesn't hold the breaker bar from moving.

Old has the most certain, and trouble free method, YES it will ruin a I/2" extension and a pipe plug, but Harbor Freight is not a stranger.

Dad use to heat the plug and Squirt water on it. The water cooled it quickly and causes the plug to shrink.
