Looking for suggestions on what to do about my rusting out rear rims for my WD 45. I was lucky to find some decent front replacements but now face the rears. I don"t care about the power adjust, I have heard of combine rims, I have heard of new ones made by someone, and I have heard of repairing existing ones. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Check out the price of new rear rims at Tonystractors.com and then see if you can do better on used &/or repaired. Might not be a big advantage to used/repaired unless you can do the work yourself & are satisfied with the remaining life in old rims.

The wheels from a John Deere combine SP 55,95,etc. will bolt right on most tractors with adjustable wheels as long as they are eight hole. Most are on 26 inch rims but they work fine.

I've repaired two WD-45 rims. I had a 28 rim from a Ford 8N laying around because I'd replaced one on my 8N earlier. I cut out sections that matched my needs and welded them in. After a little grinding, it was hard to tell they were repaired. I used them for several years and then sold the tractor - rims are still in use two years later after I sold it.

Combine rims that match the bolt pattern will be 26 inch diameter, and will run at lower mph. Degrades a good tractor. You can buy new 28 inch, or patch existing 28 inch with a donor rim. Best to fix to original.

Check to see how badly your existing rims are rusted. If it is only a few inches either way from the valve stem hole, repair is a good option if you can do the work yourself or have a friend that will do it as a favor. Many brands of tractor rims can be used for donor material........good luck........RP

A friend of mine put JD 16.9 x 26 wheels on his WD. He didn't check top speed but he figures he lost a little hp with the wider tire. But he gains on traction because he didn't need weights after switching wheels.

I'll give you a set of power adj. with all hardware off a45 if you'll come get them...100mi. south of Memphis TN. in MS.....Kent
