D12 serial and production numbers?

I just purchased a D12 and was wondering how many were made, and at what serial numbers the series changed and differences in the series??

This site says that 4070 were made, I have a book that says a little over 5000 were made, but looking at the serial numbers for the years made, assuming they are consecutive, looks like closer to the 10 000 range.

From what I found they started in 1959 at serial # 1001 and began 1967 with serial # 9830 my source doesn't tell the total # produced including 1967.Hope that helps.

not consecutive

About 4200 built. 1747 with the G138 engine 1959-1961 and starting in 1961 through 1968 they had a G149 engine, 2454 of those built.
