Screw-on fuel filter screens

My 1939 Allis B has the screw on jar on the fuel filter. There is a screen that goes into the jar, somewhat like the brass screen other filters use, but I cannot locate one. Does anyone know of a source?

Unless it's something special, it should just be a simple sediment bowl screen. If it is something special, I'd like to see a picture of it. Might be something you pull off and stick on the shelf and replace with a $25 standard sediment bowl filter.

If it is a rare (today) Zenith sediment bowl with a SMALL screw-on jar similar to the one in the first photo, they used a stacked brass disc filter, similar to the one in the second photo (although the filter "head" in the second photo will be different than what you have).

Bob, that is the correct picture of the glass jar and the filter, as described in the parts manual. I'd like to preserve that setup when I redo the tractor this winter, but I don't know if the filter is still available, or if I can manufacture one that will be effective and won't leak. It is quite similar to a spray paint (HVLP) filter. Thanks for the photos!

I spent quite a bit of time searching the 'net for a screen... Hard to believe for as common as they once were how tough to find they seem to be now!

I wonder if any of the antique carb places that advertise on the 'net would have them?

Bob is that filter like some of the old brass oil filters that you could soak and flush them back wards to clean them?

The filter in the second picture appears to match the parts manual for the insert. The filter itself appears to be a combination of brass screen and felt. Quite by accident today, I discovered that a gas tank filter from a chain saw may fit into this setup, with only minor modifications. I'll pick up one of those filters when I'm next in town and post a result. Thanks for all your help!
