I have a 59 D-17 with what looks like a Marvel Schebler carb. The only markings I can find are 227-209, and I'm not sure what model it is for a rebuild kit. The only info I have found online says its a TSX 374 which was for a Oliver ??????

To read the tag on those carbs you have to pull the carb off since the brass tag is on the engine side so you can not see it when it is on the engine. They used 4 different M/S/ carbs on the D-17 TSX 464, 773,871, which are the numbers for he early ones. O'Reilly's auto parts store if you have one in your area carry the Walker brand kits and they are a pretty good basic kit I use them all the time

Not many parts in that carb..

If you can get the top off without breaking the Gasket, you could remove the lower Bowl, CLEAN the bowl AND the Bottom passage that feeds the "Main Load Screw", put it together and well may be off to the field without any parts..

I have removed mine (WD-45) that way, cleaned and re-installed and (years ago) and it still runs fine..

It is not all that hard to get the top screws out, but with a New Parts Kit, I would remove the carb whole and rebuild it on the bench...

Ron..

By the way the carb kit like the Walker brand ones will fit all the M/S carbs that the D-17 would have on them. I have an early say 1960 or so D-17 my self

When looking at your picture, just to the right of the throttle shaft boss you can see the edge of a tag that is riveted to the side of the carburetor throat. The model # should be stamped on that tag. Be careful cleaning it. It will be either brass or aluminum. Lee
