C Drawbar Strap Bolt Length

I took the drawbar off last spring for cultivating, it was a fight and the bolts were pretty sketchy/eroded so I set them somewhere to size new ones. I took the cultivator off last and went to put the drawbar on (to move the wheels in for winter storage) and remembered I neither got new bolts as originally planned or can find were I put the old ones.

5/8"DIA but anyone know how long? Part # 70903792 but it gives no specs in the book.

Thanks,
Justin

My first thought was the same as Teddy52food, and then remembered, that we are here to help other tractor guys out! If I were you I would stick a piece of welding rod in the threaded hole, in the final drive, where the bolt goes, and mark it for depth, then lay the welding rod on a tape and see how deep the hole is. Then measure the thickness of the drawbar, at the hole area, and add those two numbers to get bolt length. as an example maybe a 3/4" hole depth , plus a 5/8" drawbar thickness, plus another 1/8" for a lock washer, equals 12/8ths, or 1 1/2 inch bolt x 5/8 course thread. Your actual measurements, will probably vary. Don't forget to run a 5/8 tap in your threaded hole, to clean it up, being as you said that it was somewhat eroded!

Sorry to waste your time.

I was hoping for a quick answer yesterday so I could pick them up on the way home instead of driving home, guestimating with a piece of wire and then driving back to town to get two bolts so I can move the tractor with the drawbar being held in by the straps that is blocking my truck in the garage.

For the next guy it is roughly 2" long. A shy 1" of hitch parts and a long 1" before it deadheads in the final drive plus a lock washer.
