180 allis thoughts

Hoping to get some ideas on what direction I should go in. I,am looking at a allis 180 with hyd pto, diesel wide front and needing power director work. The tractor will come with another power director housing and rearend, which needs to be swapped out with the bad one. runs and starts good. I don't know much about allis at all more of a red man ,I understand its just like a ta. Are these good hp tractors? I can get this one for 2200,good deal? Are parts readily available. Thanks steve

TA gives a reduction in speed, Power Director gives a reduction in speed, as well as providing a clutch between the Hi and Lo position, so it provides live pto and hyd. It can be feathered into hi or lo from the middle position, for smooth start of wheel motion.

No way to know about the condition of the parts rear you're gambling some and I'd bet that
its jumps out of one or more gears.Personally it'd have to be a lot less $$$ for me to try to repair it and take the chance.

Last year I bought my first allis . A 185 with a fresh motor but a tranny rebuild gone wrong . Also had New rubber all around . Give 4k for it . With some help from the fine folks on this site I got the transmission straight . I'm happy with the power it has for size , the hydraulics are excellent . The only thing that I don't care for is the pto setup , but u get used to not clutching and use the director instead . At that price I don't think you d get hurt .
