Engine swap

When they put the G 230 combine engine in the 45's did they have to make a adapter or did the clutch housing fit ?

The most common engine swap was done on a WD-45 diesel, not gas. When swapping the diesel over from a D-230 diesel to G-230 gas, you use the diesel flywheel, clutch and engine backplate and attach to the gas engine. The radiator connections are the same, etc, etc Same family of engine.

I've done a couple to make it a practical switch as said you need to start with a
WD45 diesel. The biggest issue because the diesel won't have the parts is with the governor and front mounts. If you can find the front plates and mounts for a Cockshutt 30 then it'll work fine and all you'll have to work on is placement and shimming the front mount which is simple enough.

Either will work but the mounts on the 30 work better and 30 parts are a whole lot easier to find.30 engine is basically the same as the 40 or 50 just with 2 cylinders chopped off
