Operation Meter (Tach/Hour) Retrofit

General question, has anyone retrofitted the Operation Meter to a Series I D17. I have a 1959 serial #25529 Diesel that does not have the Operation Meter. I have the shop and parts manual showing all of the parts, but not the where the engine side pieces attach. Mine is the one with the power steering pump being driven by the generator. I have done a quick look at the engine without removing top panels but don't see where a drive attachment would go. Thoughts or insight please?

This is just a guess. Is there a boss on the right side of the block, in the center, where a distributor would have come up out of on a gas engine? Possibly a tach. drive would have been there?

Looked on the engine's right side, when setting in seat, and nothing looking like a distributor support boss casting. On the left side behind the fuel filter housings is a cast in boss on the engine block with a what appears to be a pressed in cap on its top vertical surface. This appears to be in line with the drive gear on the middle of the cam shaft, ( just guessing,) don't know if this is the access point a tach drive would be fixed to.

If anyone has a series 1 d17 diesel with the operation meter and can send a picture of where the drive cable attaches to engine sure would be appreciated.

OK, that sounds correct. I was trying to picture a D19 gas. And now that you say there's a plug on the left side, that reminds me that the manifold on the D19 is on the right side, and the ignition is on the left. I was thinking on the D19 gas the tach. drove off the distributor area somehow, but that is also a guess. There were very few D19 tractors, or D17 diesels around here, as well.
Best of luck to you.
