My friends AC 185 diesel has what looks like a leaky fuel injector on the front most one. At first it looked like an oil leak but we think it's a fuel leak. It's not to big of a leak but it does end up running down the side of engine. He tightened the two bolts beside the injector with no help. Is there an O ring going bad or ?

While it's possible it's an injector, it's most likely the valve cover gasket. I don't know if it's still available, but there was a kit whereby you could replace the 1/4" screws with shoulder bolts w/belleville washers. This kept constant tension on the gasket as it aged. The only thing you had to do was drill out the holes in the cover a little.

As I recall, there was a copper/concave/crush washer at the bottom of the injector. Most unlikely place to leak.

The injector has a lapped surface where the nozzle valve seals, it may be seeping at that area. Relapping both the valve and injector body may take care of it. Also make sure the valve cover isn't leaking, making it look like the injector as that happens too.

Thanks to Bob Bancroft and Dieseltech as I will pass this along to him.
