Off the wall WD Questions

Just got a 1950 WD.

1. When was the switch from cast to stamped clutch pedals? Mine is cast, I have found two other 1950 WD's with stamped ones like my WD-45. They are both newer 1950's than mine though. Was it a midyear 1950 thing or did someone manage to ruin mine somehow and replace it with an older one?

2. What is the purpose of the drain plug on the side of the oil pan? My '53 WD-45 doesn't have one and now that I have seen it on my WD I notice WD's have them while my early '45 doesn't.

3. Is it difficult to add a traction booster gauge like a WD-45? It looks simple enough but didn't know if there was more to it than meets the eye.

Really no need for the Traction Booster gage..you get to know by "feel" if it needs more boost by wheel slippage or front end lift..!!
Like learning just where the spot is that the Hydraulics stop at neutral...!!
A lot depends (with a Plow) what condition the Shares and plowing conditions are...New shares, very low lever setting, worn, a little higher..
Heavy (Hard) pulling, lever all the way down and the front off the ground sometimes..!!
Extremely Heavy plowing and you may start breaking Cover-Boards off..!!

BTDT..

oil pan drain plug was for the dual fuel setup, cant remember what the second fuel besides regular gas was called, maybe distillate if i remember right. anyway some of the fuel would get into the oil, the oil would seperate to the bottom and the fuel would be on top, you open the drain on the side of the pan to drain off the fuel, it was supposed to be done daily. i dont think you have to do it if you ran regular gas though.

There is a small plug to the front, I need to get both side by side and compare if it is actually in the same place.

And yeah, the gauge isn't really required but it is neat to have.

Thanks for the help with the oil pan, that does make sense.

Maybe the WD's with WD 45 pedal may have been switched out because the WD 45 was an adjustable clutch pedal.
