i have a 1939 allis b it has a delco remy model 935b 6 volt generator. my question is how to test armature, and what resistance would the armature read between poles.
im getting 0 ohms across each pole,or at 180 degrees .
any help appreciated
steve

Since the armature is would with a continuous series of coils of fairly heavy wire, the a resistance measurement between adjacent commutator bars or bars 180º apart will be very low, I don't have a reasonable estimate, though.

However, resistance between the commutator bars and the shaft or laminations should be "infinite".

Armatures are commonly tested with a "growler". Any chance you have access to one?
