Anyone replaced starter switch on starter with a post connec

Has anyone modified a Allis starter to replace the starter switch that sits on top of the starter with a post terminal that would replace the copper knob that the switch makes contact with so that you can add a manual start button or start switch with a key on the tractor?

I have a C that has that done to it and a WD45 that has had that done. Both use a solenoid set up for the start of them. One the WD45 has the 3 position key switch and the C had a key switch and a push button start switch

I know it can be done, can I get the parts for the starter and then there are a lot of options, I have not been able to find parts to replace the knob on the starter, that is what I am looking for.

I did it on a wc pulling tractor. The rebuilder said it would allow
more current to flow. It was rebuild with all new stuff including 12
volt field coil. I run a solenoid that is activated by a momentary
push button switch. And a toggle with a flip down cover for the
ignition coil. Works good.

This is the part # that NAPA used to sell this part under. I do not know if it is still available. Re-builders may be the only outlet for this part.

Echlin # SF139 is the bolt contact for converting a starter to solenoid start.(replaces the button contact used for the push or pull manual start)

I have never had any problems finding the start parts but the big problem is it takes a big solder iron to do the work and NO soldering gun made will do it

I just remembered I have the largest starter rebuilder in this part of the USA, I may just take it down to him and see what he can do.

On one of my starters, I ground the starter post flat and drilled, tapped and installed a 5/16" brass stud.
Worked well.

Old, I use an small old school soldering copper heated by a propane torch, I've repaired & replace several starter studs this way. Dave F.
