Tractor has "alligator teeth" ratchet to lock brake pedals down. Teeth look good on pawl and pedals but still wont hold when flipped on. Do I need a heavier spring? adjust brake pedal linkage? or what. tanks, john

I'm not there looking at it but, replace the ratchet teeth with new and replace the "pawl" lever as well. Then, if you still have problems, go from there. You may think they look good, but I doubt they are as good as you think they are. I've replaced thousands of them over the years....never had one that didn't work with new parts. Adjust your brake pedals for 2 to 3 inch play. Something as important as a safety item like this shouldn't be ignored. Ratchet teeth have to be installed the correct way !!!!

I had the same problem with mine. I used a small file and dressed up the teeth on the ratchet piece as after 50 years they were rounded not pointy anymore. It worked and stopped it from slipping out of park. Ryan
