CA starter ring gear is loose

I have a 57 CA that I got in 1989. It came with a new starter ring for the flywheel. I have it apart to replace all the clutch stuff and decided to put it on as the other is worn in spots. My problem is that the ring turns on the flywheel, it isn't tight. My manual has nothing on a starter ring. What should I do?

Are you sure it is the right ring gear of a CA?
They are usually very tight and need to be heated to put on.
I think you better order a new one. LOL Bob

Sounds like the ring gear you have is not the correct one for it. Ring gears are made so you have to heat then real hot and maybe even freeze the flywheel to get them on. When I replace them I put the ring gear in the oven and set it at 500 degrees and the flywheel in the freezer to get real cold.

I run into this when I redid the clutch on my 49' C we tried 2 different ring gears from 2 different places and they would slip right on, machine shop just flipped my old ring gear.. parts places were close to $40 for a ring gear agco wants like $90 there must.be a difference somewhere
