D-17 Power Steering Pump Pulley

I shelled out the pulley on my D-17 Power Steering Pump. The pump turns freely so I don't think it is damaged (remains to be seen); however I cannot find the pulley anywhere (I was baling hay, so it might be in a hay bale) The engine ate the belt.

Can anyone give me the data I need to replace the belt & pulley? (I won't know if I need a pump until I get the pulley/belt replaced.)

Specifically, I need to know the diameter of the shaft (mine measures 0.50", but dunno if the shaft is worn excessively). Also, the overall diameter of the pulley & belt size.

I see pumps are available on several websites - worth their weight in gold - but nobody has the pulley.

Appreciate any help/advice.

I know the Parts Book lists a "Barnes" brand power steering pump and a "Webster" brand also. I've never seen a Barnes on a D-17 series 3 or 4 gas tractor. The correct pulley for the Webster pump is 70235393 and the key is 70905119. Get yourself a 1/2" NF locknut to replace the factory nut and get it tight by clamping the pulley in a vise to hold it. New belt is 70237386 for a gas engine. Call any AGCO dealership to get the pulley and key. I don't think you'll ever find one elsewhere due to the offset that's made in it. Your shaft has to be damaged. Good luck.

I checked at the local allis dealer for that pulley, and was told $250.00. Went to orschlen, bought a 1/2 inch pulley center, and a weld on pulley. Found a key that worked, got it all togather, and it worked fine.

THANKS! I'm trying to find something in a salvage yard, but if that don't bear fruit within a day or two I'll try to find a new part. I am afraid the pump may have failed/froze up and that caused the key to shatter which allowed the pulley to come loose. Would have thought that the belt (very old & worn) would have slipped before the key or pulley broke.

The shaft shows some sign of wear where the pulley slipped on the shaft; however, it don't look too bad and the shaft spins freely. Don't know if it is actually turning anything or not until I get a belt & pulley on it.

Thanks, again. I really appreciate the response.

They are known for the nut coming loose and then the pulley falling off. The nut they used from the factory wasn't much and that's why I recommend using a real good quality 1/2" NF locknut instead of the factory nut.
