I need information on splitting a WD to replace the torque tube. Broke the PTO drop-down casting and in the process it split a chunk out of it's mounting surface on the torque tube.

Pull the steering shaft off first then the hood etc and unbolt eh engine. Best if you have the I-T AC-11 manual so you have the whole story when you do it. BTDT a few times over the years of replacing engines etc in the WD/WD45 etc

Couple options- front or back. From the front, you can support the frame, slide out the steering casting, engine, clutch housing, and torque tube. No risk of tipping over. From the rear, you"d support each end, split at the axle and torque tube. Separate, and remove the tube.

I think it"s safer to go out the front, especially with limited equipment. Trailer jack bolted to the frame can support that, and a small hoist can pull the engine. You need to loosen one side rail and pry them apart a bit to slide units forward.

Splitting takes to much time. Pull one frame rail off and pull the engine.. it will come out without splitting. But the torque tube won't. You can pull the torque tube.
