G model question

Are these tractors any good? Don't know much about em, how hard is it to find implements for them? Worth buying to use or are they only practical for showing off? I have a farmall cub for the garden how does a G compare to a cub?

A G is one I would love to own but then again it was built in the town I was born in. As for how do they compare hard to say since the 2 are so much different sort of like comparing the taste of an apple and an orange

An excellent tractor for market garden cultivating etc on small farm. Most parts and implements are out there might take a while to find. Similar to Farmall cub, JD L.

I've heard that there's some outfit out there that is making new AC "G" like tractors, i. e., engine in the back and excellent front visibility of the crop. I don't know who it is but maybe somebody here, or google, will know. Also, as the engine is pretty simply cantilevered out the back via of the bell housing, many have been re-powered with different engines. Electric motors have even been used!

A G has about the same amount of 'power' as a Cub which isn't much the biggest drawback they have.I used to have several to cultivate corn and vegetables. I now use a
Hines H-1600 which is a G clone of sorts except the Hines has hydrastatic drive and a hydraulic lift on the rear and center. Also the Hines uses Cat 0 implements which are pretty common as they were used on a lot of larger garden tractors.

The company is Tuff-Bilt located in Alabama and they are neat handy little tractors similar looking to a G but updated with hyraulics and two Cat 0 hitches, plus they have more power.

I have 2 allis G's. One that i cultivate with. I love it as you are right on top of your crop and can see exactly what is happening. If you cover something, I just reach down with a short stick and uncover it. We also have a cub on the farm. It has more clearance underneath but is a lot like my Allis B when it comes to cultivating. You are much farther away from the crop. We plant with the cub, cultivate with the G and hill with the Allis B. LOL Bob

I sure appreciate the input folks. I always thought those were some really neat tractors but was hesitant to get one. I seen cubs work so I chose one of those first. Now I would like to have a G model for the uniqueness. But also want to be able to use it. How menueverable are they compared to a cub? I have a really small garden just a little more than a tiller could handle that's the main reason I have a small tractor.

I have 5 G's, use one for all of my cultivating on our veggie farm. I picked up a clone Blue G 1000 a few years back that uses a cub engine and is a more modern tractor, but it just doesn't handle like the Allis.
