ca cut out relay

I can not get the tractor to charge. Relay will not pull in. Relay and generator have tested good by local rebuild shop. If I push the relay together it will hold and everything works as it should. Relay separates when the engine is turned off. What am I missing or doing wrong? Thanks for any help. Gary

ASSUMING the CO is properly connected and grounded, either the generator is not outputting enough voltage at the speed you are running it to reach the pull-in voltage of the CO relay or the CO relay is out of spec..

FWIW I agree with Bob. If you're smart enough there may be little tabs you bend to adjust clearance or slight spring tension adjustment to change the voltage required to latch the CO relay in/closed, but you may trash it trying or then it may not re open when tractor shuts down. Insure a good clean bright shiny Cutout Relay and Genny ground connection.

To quickly check what Bob and John correctly suggested run a temporary wire from the "F" terminal to the ground post of the battery. If it charges start chasing your ground problem. One thing they forgot to add is the electrical box itself must have a good ground and that is often the problem.
