I have a change to buy a HD-5 for $3500. Is that a resonable price?

Would appreciate any information concerning this dozer.

The HD-5 and HD-6 have alot of interchageable parts ,so thats less of a problem The main concern is the under carrage, rails (track chain, pins and bushings) sprockets and
final drive .Generally,If the dozer will start and move well with the brakes/steering clutches and master clutch (no slippage) it should be a good price . I recently looked at one,HD5 with a winch for $4900.00 but the under carrage/
rails/sprockets were junk , I went on to buy a AC 650 w/a 6x blade good luck

I have a chance to purchase an HD-6 loader crawler. The seller states he can fabricate pins on the bucket with two new cylinders for a blade that will raise and lower and tilt clockwise and counter clockwise. I will not have the left and right like a 6-way blade. It was built in 1959 and is in good shape. The price is $8,000.00 with a full cage. It is a Diesel as well, no pony motor. My concern is it appears difficult to find a service manual and parts. Is this a good deal or should I spend more and get a D-4 ot JD 450-C with a 6-way blade. This will be used on my 4 acres to build and maintain a Motorcross Track. This will be my first Dozer.
Thanks Ron
