spark plug wiring

I have seen a lot of posts on getting the wiring right on the spark plug wires. I get confused by the pics, etc. I have a distributor and have the wires in the 1,2,4,3 order, but want to ensure where the number 1 should be. I have it in the front spot that is closest to the radiator, and closest to the head, and then I do the 2,4,3 clockwise from there. Is this right?

The picture shows how the wires are normally run . With a distributor it is the same wire route except the cap is turned 90° up.

I got the pics, I have exactly that way, thanks for your help, I have spark to the plug, must be another problem, no water in oil, etc, going to take the valve cover off and check the valves to make sure they are working right.
