wc will start

I finally found time to play with it. While turning the engine, watching valves and pistons with a pencil in the hole it became obvious it was firing at the bottom. Some way the mag must be 180 out. I just moved the the plug wires to make it fire up. Carb needs some help now and then I will find why the mag is out of time. Thanks all you that helped.

Most mags mount one of two ways it is easy to have them 180 out. Depending on the mag I probably have the manual for it and all you need to do is send me an e-mail and I will send you the manual.

While many mags just mount in a certain direction/orientation (IE seldom do they mount totally upside down 180 opposite from normal) ITS THE DRIVE CUP OR CONNECTOR (that fits into tractor) which can be 180 out. If such is the case remove the mag and rotate its drive 180 opposite and try again. This is for a slot type of connection (Fits in one way or 180 opposite) but if its gear drive it can still be out of time including a full 180 out of time.

I am just going by what is shown in the books. The mag is positioned like it is in the manual and with the wires shown. It is sparking when the piston is at the bottom so I say that it is timed 180 out and yes I will remove it and time it correctly but for now the quick fix is to move the wires in the cap. The engine doesn't know how the wires are positioned and doesn't car as long as it fires at top dead center valves closed. I am just surprised the old thing runs as good as it does. Gears are quite governor works correctly. The troubles I am having now are the trash in the fuel tank.
Thanks all for your help.

The mag on my 1935 JD-B is on 180 out so I have the #1 and #2 wire on back wards so it works instead of just pulling the mag off and switching them out. Same holds true for your mag so you can just switch the wires out and run it like that and be just fine
