190XT steering valve help?

Got a 190 steering vale from a bone yard to put on my 930 case with a cylinder on the front axle to make real power steering. Asked for what hoses went where as to the
four ports. Had a guy tell me left, right, front back. Great hooked it all up. Started the tractor, pump belt squealing, tuned the wheel cylinder move then nothing.
Shut it down said this ain't right. Went down to the Agco dealer to talk to a mechanic and or look at a service manual. Not open Saturday Morning (not my favorite
dealer). Oh well. Drove around back to the lot just in case. Bingo a used 190. Looked at it. Saw the problem, I mounted the valve with the ports uip, it's mounted on
the 190 with ports down. So I had put pressure in the outlets.

!. Did I mess up a seal, stick a valve???
2. I see in the parts book a lot of parts in the valve. Can I tear into it or had O better find somebody that's been in one?

I don't think there;s any good reason to tear into it just yet.

Sounds like you've hooked the valve up wrong.

MAY be some markings by the ports... L (left), R (right,) T (tank), P (pressure).

What does it say on the nameplate riveted to the valve (model #)?

The Char-Lynn Eaton link below shows home some simple Char-Lynn systems are hooked up.

You are very lucky the steering wheel didn't take off spinning and break your arm !!! There are some things in life you need to be absolutely sure of.....correct installation of hoses on a steering orbitrol is one of those things. I've never hooked them up wrong, so I can't tell you what, if any damage it would do. As far as leaking seals, the only seal that ever leaks is the one that connects to the steering wheel shaft. I don't know why you were changing it anyway. What was the problem?? They never go bad on an A-C....never. The seal leaks once in a while and we just replace the seal....never the whole thing. How do you know your pump hasn't failed now, especially after what it was just subjected to?? And not all orbitrols are the same, even tho they may look the same. I have no idea how an A-C will work on a Case.
