C Allis pan gasket leaks

I have a C that I replaced the pan gasket on a few years ago before parking it in the barn. I also put a new front seal in it. Before I parked it I mowed with it a little to see if the Woods mower would work. A lot of oil from somewhere streamed down the front pedestal after a while. The longer I ran it the worse it got. I drug it out the other day and pulled the pan. On the front where the block "mates" with the front cover where the pan bolts up, there is about a 1/4 gap on either side. I think this is where the oil is flowing from. After looking over the front it doesn't appear that oil was slung all over like the front pulley would have done had it been the seal. Has this been an issue with anyone and if so is there a good remedy? Thanks, gm

Sounds like cork gaskets have shrunk up. A good place for silicone/RTV gasket maker.

If you do not seal the area that is blue with gasket maker of some kind they will leak. If I am in a hurry I still let it set up a few hours before putting on the gasket. I glue the gasket to the pan only and not to the block.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to try the "gasket in a tube" with some thin flashing over the cracks. That was a chitty engineering move on the engine makers part.

You can find a lot of engines of that period that needed extra attention in those areas. Both foreign and domestic.
