190 XT/series 3 transmission compatibility

I have a 190 XT with a problem in the transmission or power director. I have a transmission out of a 190 XT series 3, and was wondering if they're the same. I was going to rebuild the one out of the series 3 and swap them out to minimize down time.

You'd better have a better plan than that. Exactly what is the problem???????? In the transmission...... in the rear end differential/final drives.....or in the Power Director???? The speed gears for the Power Director are located under the dashboard and not in the rear end at all. The Power Director clutch itself bolts to the front face of the transmission housing, but isn't inside the transmission. So, what's your issue???

In low range, with the PTO engaged, it has a vibration/rattle. Quiet in all other configurations.

I figured if I had to split the tractor and repair it in a hurry, I'd go through the power-director, clutch, and trans off of the series 3 that I have on the shelf (at night) and keep haying (and praying) during the days. Just not sure if they'll bolt up.

All the gears/shafts/bearings related to your unusual problem while in Low Range and using the PTO, are inside the torque housing directly underneath the dashboard, NOT in the rear end.
