AC-72 Combine set up

Can someone tell me the how to set the AC-72 up for wheat ?
What the Cylinder speed should be ? the gap or height for the cylinder?
How far open should each of the sieves be ? and how to set the air valve?
Is there a publication with all that stuff in it ?

Owners manual, do u have luxury of one of them? The 72 has a open concave i think. Well is that winter wheat, or a Hard Red Spring wheat, If it's a easy threshing wheat. it's easier to set,The harder the wheat is too thresh the faster you want the cylinder to go, but no faster then necessary, because that cracks the wheat too. The front of the cylinder can be open 3/8 and have it almost tight in the rear of cylinder to help separate the grain right there. You want the wind to be set high enough to float the chaff and heads up and off the sieves.The top sieve can be 3/4 open, and the bottom sieve is the most important , maybe 1/4 to 3/8 open. The only thing you want to send back to the cylinder is unthreshed heads, and the bottom sieve controls that. These are for the normal open concave grated combine. The A and C cleaner for example is a solid concave. So it's a lot of trial and error,my dad bought a new A Gleaner combine in 1962,Talk about a honey of a Machine, and easy to work on, to boot!
 
Maybe i should define easy threshing wheat, you take one head of wheat and smash it in the palm of your other hand and rub it 3-4 times, Blow in the palm of your hand to get rid of the chaff. Then look at the base of the head to see if all the kernel's are out of there, if there's 3-4 kernel's left in the base. That is hard threshing wheat.Those kernels are usually smaller then the other's in the middle of the head, therefore harder to get out. Good Luck.

I was finally able to locate the OPERATORS INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL. I went down the set up list for wheat and it was just like you said, most of the settings were already correct, only the sieves needed adjusting. There are only 4 cylinder bars but I think I'll be o.k.
