Well the 185 is almost complete but I seem to be having an issue getting the shifter back in again . The shifter is in second and pretty sure the tractor is also but seems the forks are to far apart to slip in the collars . Everything matches as far as transmission , parts all in order. I'm gonna keep trying but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Never had any problems putting the cover back on with the shifter and gear in second. Make sure the other gears are in natural, and second is in second.

Tractor in neutral, can easily rock back and forth . Slide rear collar forward should be second . That puts the collars about 3 1/2 inches apart . When I put the shifter in second the forks are about 4 1/2 inches apart . What am I missing

Tractor in neutral , rocks back and forth easily . Move rear collar forward engages second gear . Collars at this point are 3 1/2 inches apart . Shifter in second gear puts the forks about 4 1/2 inches apart . What am I missing.

Big oops collar is on wrong side of third gear now that I quit telling myself that I had it right . When assembling the split thrust washer slid out a couple times so I had to take the gears off the shaft , laid them on the bench in order I thought . Late at night in a hurry. Guess I need to order a couple more gaskets . Gonna be a long day .
