Last March 9th, I purchased a 1959 Allis Chalmers D 14, serial # 20966.
This brings a family tradition back to my family.
In Keokuk, Iowa, my Great - Grandfather worked on steam-powered threshing machines a hundred years ago.
I'll post photos of repairs made.

Built by a guy from Wisconsin, it arrived in the mail painted primer grey. I painted it.

I had one for years, enjoyed driving it.

one safety item to check, you may have already checked this out.

Get under the tractor and check the condition of that snap couple hook, be sure the spring that holds it closed is in good repair, all other items bearings related to the operation of the snap couple hook operation are working properly.

This item is critical when pulling hard like plowing, disking,

that snap couple comes loose allowing the implement tongue todig into the dirt, those lift arm clamps must be free to unhook, to keep you safe.

I only had a lift arm catch come loose plowing a few times, replaced the latch side springs, solved the problem,
 
I crawled under the tractor to check the snap hook spring. It is intact, yet, to be safe I got a new one to replace it. Looks like an easy repair. Meanwhile, new back tires were installed today.

I purchased a used battery tray from a guy in Indiana. It has more metal remaining on it than the one on the tractor. I purchased a stainless steel battery tray (7 X 11) assembly and it fit perfect, except for the length. Using a 3" cut-off wheel, I cut the stainless tray to 10 3/4 inches in length and using a flat file smoothed the edges. More work to be done.
