Was the model A Allis Chalmers ,made from the same frame etc as the model U, which was also known as the Thrasherman's Special ? The U was made in the early 1920, I think.

The U was made from 1929-1952 with 3 different motors. Over 20,000 were built. The A was built from 1936-1942 with only about 1200 made. The motors were not even close, the U's were around 300 cubic inch and the A's were pushing 500 cubic inch. The threshermans special was a version of the E 25-40 tractor. The E's were built from 1918-1936 with models like the 18-30, 20-35 and 25-40. The A replaced the E.

Your right, i got my Oid Allis News, on the "Letters" page, he set me straight also, I have a neighbor who's dad bought a new E,in 1927 and I got my E's and A's mixed up, But that one, was changed over to LP Gas in the 40's i think, but with the added compression they still had to keep a Team of horses around to pull it, to get it started. But he changed that to a ring gear, battery @ starter too. It still runs good. but it's on the 3rd generation to drive it in the parades.
