Try and run it long enough to get it warmed up good and when gunning the throttle look for blue smoke out the exhaust pipe.........meaning maybe time for an overhaul. They are probably one of the best gas engines ever built, but when you get to 3,500 or more hrs an overhaul is suspect. Also if the rubber air hose to the carb is rotten, an OH is imminent.

Didn't buy it. They started it before they sold it. Didn't smoke. They said all the gears were good. The tach was broke so we had no idea how many hours were on it. The front weight support was badly bent from most likely a chain was hooked to it to pull it out from being stuck. Hose from the air cleaner to carborator didn't have a clamp on it either.

Based on the condition of the rest of the equipment on the sale, it didn't receive much care either. Sold for $4000.00, a bit more than I was willing to pay.

Thanks again
