WD45 Draft/Traction control screws......

......does the "A" screw actually screw into the valve body? I cannot seem to find a hole to screw it into, like the "B" screw.

I am an IH guy, so the Allis stuff is different to me.

I am plowing with 2/16's,and the depth control is flightly. Tractor had a complete, and I mean complete, stem to stern rebuild. It is pretty much brand new. Or was brand new 3 years ago - sees alot of parades!

Not my tractor, my friends dads' s, and he has since passed away since last year . He had grown up running one just like it.

I rent about 10 acres from them, and we always use the WD to work it up. Was always a nice reason to visit and catch up, and enjoy good weather.

I would appreciate any help, as we cannot find the operators manual for the tractor yet - we know it is in the house, but have yet to find where he put it.

I appreciate any ideas!

google Allis Chalmers Traction Booster decals. You can find a readable decal in 5he first page of hits.....Model CA.

I have the decal - my question is, is there an actual hole in the body, to screw the screw into. I cannot find one, but this machine has been repainted. Wondering if the hole is covered with paint. Saying that, I do not want to scape off a bunch of paint, to find out that there is no hole!

Thanks for the reply!

There is a divet or shallow pocket for the setscrew tip to slip into. If the linkage from the drawbar sensing spring is adjusted properly, you shouldn't have to rotate lever "A" for it to fit. Don't over tighten the screw or it will bend the arm....finger tight is enough.

Ahh....I see. I did not think there was a hole, and now I know about where a divot should be.

Thank you! I will check it out tomorrow!!

Best Regards.

The AC "Traction Booster" is dependent on actual "Pull" on the drawbar attaching point..

New Shares will have you only lifting the Hydraulic lever very little (maybe all the way Down at times)..

As the shares wear or in easier pulling, you may need to raise the left lever more, but it will need adjustment as LOAD varies..

There MAY be times when you will have the left lever ALL the way Down and the front wheels will still be off the ground..

Those times, steer it with the brakes and maybe hold back some on the Hand clutch lever..

If you need, you can remove the Spacer Washers from the Hitch Spring mount, to compress the Hitch spring tighter..that will help keep the front down better..
We always used a Semi-Mounted AC 4x14 on both of ours and got along just fine here in Central Ohio..
Dad and I (2-WD-45's) could plow 50 acres in one long day..(3 tanks of gas each)..

Ron..
