Splitting a B, best way to support torque tube....

what's the thinking on splitting a B, and supporting the torque tube half..... Block up under the big nut that ties the front steering? Or support the tube.... Thoughts welcome...

I use wood blocks piled up so they crisis cross each other so as to lock them together. I have also used a chain hoist to hold up both parts.

I have a manual screw jack about 32 inches tall that has a VEE on the top.. A 4 x 4 angle iron about 4 inches wide welded to the top with the VEE up. I set it under the torque tube as far forward as you can get on the tube, without getting into the bell housing area. I have a set of stands that bolt to the torque tube, but it gets close to the motor mount bolts and hard to get a socket on them.

It all depends what is not in use when I am splitting one. Here is one way with a jack and jack stands. I will post pictures with all jack stands also. I always place jack stands under the drawbar to remove the rear tires from the floor or ground.
