WD45 transmission

I have WD45 it hangs up when shifting someone told me the shifting forks maybe worn. How difficult is it to replace the forks and any advice on completing the tasks. Any suggestions where to get parts. Any help is appreciated. :?:

There are four wear areas of concern. #1. There is a square head locating pin on the left side of the gearshift ball under the rubber shift boot. If the hole in the shift tower is worn and loose, you can purchase an oversized locating pin and drill out the worn hole. The gearshift can also be made to accept a second square head pin on the right side with some creative machining. #2. The gearshift ball itself may be worn or the cast iron shift tower as well. I have built up the ball with weld and ground it to a new size to fit the seat better. Two snap rings to retain it also works to tighten things up. #3. The bottom tip of the gearshift gets worn and can stand building up. #4. The shifting rail lugs that the gearshift tip fits into also wear and may need some reconditioning. The forks themselves aren't the issue, it's everything above them.

Mine would lock in 2nd gear , so I found a good one on this site and never lookd back. Some one had welded mine
beyound recognition and wrecked it .

Regarding the lock pin in the shift tower...WD has one, and a second one can be added by drilling through the existing hole. WD45 already has two pins.

Early WD-45's didn't have two pins. Many have been updated

The change to two pins happened at s/n 204400, which is newer than 1953.........maybe like late 1955 or 1956?? Many got updated as things wore out. The curved lever actually created the extra wear because it twists when you push or pull on it.
