Hand Starting B on petrol or kerosene

Hi all-
anyone have experience hand starting B on kerosene or petrol? Sent a carb that was restored down to Australia that was tested here on gas and ran like a dream hand started first or 2nd crank. It was a all fuel carb set up correctly. He says that needs to pull start than it runs great not a hint of trouble and good power. Other than the normal, week spark worn motor ect. are there any other tricks? Any ideas? Thanks Dan

hard to start on kerosene. Most started on gas, then switch over once running and hot. Pull starting would be an advantage for that.

You ALWAYS need to start on gas then switch to kero no matter what. Kero has to have a hot engine to work. You should also switch back to gas before you shut it down or drain the carb after you shut it down

My kerosene WF with a Marvel Schebler carb would have to be changed over to running on gas while warm before shutting down for the day or starting (cold) the next time would be very hard. Simply running the carb dry on kerosene was not enough for a good cold start on gas the next time. However, my grandfather's B model on kerosene with a Zenith carb would start great by only draining the kerosene or letting it run dry at the end of the day and turning on the gas the next morning.
