190XT Transmission/differential problem??

I'm having a recent problem with my 190xt and it seems to be getting more frequent quickly, when I am in a forward gear and stop to switch to reverse it goes into reverse fine but the left drive wheel hangs uo like it stuck in a bind and won't roll backwards, you have to go back forward and play with it a little and then it will let go, does anyone known what might be causing this? Are there any typical problems that have these symptoms? Any help would be great, i really need this tractor and can't afford to have it broke down

it doesn't so much feel like a brake dragging it feels like a gear bind and if you play with the clutch a little bit back and forth or if you go back forward and then try again you know a few times then all of a sudden it will let go but if you force it if you let the clutch out and keep pushing on it itll bust loose with a loud pop it sounds really bad you know it sounds like a like a gear popping loose, I wasn't sure if it might be an issue with the final drive on that side or what because you have your differential in the middle and then your "axle tubes" tge square parts, that come off both sides those are your final drives right and those have separate oil then the differential

Ah gotcha, are those brakes serviceable without removing the wheel? Can you access the housing? So do the balls just need to be freed up and lubricated?

If your not to big of a person yes you can get to the brakes pretty easy. It is a tight fit. I know since I have the brakes on both sides of a XT190 taken apart right now waiting on parts to show up. The right side is a bit hared to do then the left side due to the hyd controls etc. Has a 4 bolt plate you remove and then it gets a tad bit hard to pull the plate off then your right at the brake disk and bands. If you have to replace parts hold on the your back pocket because they can cost a good bit. Bands are around $40 each and the disk parts are in the $150-250 range depending on where you get them New balls from AGCO are $44 or at least that is the cost I found

well the brakes on this don't feel like they work very well not necessarily that they are worn out but that they aren't actually eating you press the pedal down and its almost immediately just hard and Phirm but you don't really get much brake power very little but have to put a lot of effort on the table so it's sounding to me like the internal parts of the brake assembly that move are probably bound up and need to be freed up and lubricated would I be correct in assuming this

The way these brakes work is you have a set of bands that stop a drum which in turn cause the balls to ride up on ramps and that in turn causes the disk to spread out and then rub the side plate you have to remove and the housing which in turn causes the braking action. Common for the balls to get dirty and hang up so the disk does not drop back like they should. There are 2 springs on each disk drum assembly that you have to unhook to get o the balls to clean them up. If the balls have flat spots on them they need to be replaced. If you need I can take pictures of them

That would be great if you could take some pics of the assembly for me so I can see how it works before I tear it apart, thank you very much I appreciate your help, I'm a diesel mechanic but dont know much about these tractors right off hand

Do you by chance have the I-T AC-202 manual??? If you do on page 61 fig. 118 shows the brakes. If you do not have it I'll try to send you pictures or if you e-mail me I can scan that page which might help more then just a picture. My e-mail is open and since I own the manual would be easy to scan and then seen to you

At one time I owned an XT190 diesel picked it up cheap due to the fact the engine was locked up. Pulled the injectors and filled it with turpentine and it freed right up. The problem was the shaft seals in the injector pump and a couple other things in the pump. Cost me around $800 to have the pump rebuilt. Ran good after that and used very little fuel for it size. Traded it off due the the fact it was to big for my 44 acres of land
